PHOENIX - Police say the body of a murdered woman has been found in a concrete drain in Phoenix.

Detectives responded to the area of 47th Avenue and Lower Buckeye Road near the Roosevelt canal on Wednesday just after 11 a.m.. It is still unclear whether the killing happened at the canal or if the female victim was killed elsewhere and dropped off at that location.

3TV has learned the body was discovered by two men scavenging for scrap metal. The remains were found inside a vertical drain in the canal. The body was about 12 feet down into the canal. Police have only determined the woman was murdered but have not provided any information on her identity.

Police are now asking for the community's help in solving this murder. If anyone saw or heard anything you are asked to call Phoenix police or 480-WITNESS.
