Fiesta Bowl Parade detailsPosted: Updated:
PHOENIX -- Saturday morning thousands will line the streets of central Phoenix to get a glimpse of this year's Fort McDowell Fiesta Bowl Parade.
This year's parade will include dozens of floats, local high school marching bands, helium balloons, and marching bands from Boise State and Texas Christian University, the institutions that will be competing in the Fiesta Bowl on New Year's Day.
3TV will broadcast the parade in its entirety and azfamily.com will stream live coverage of the parade online beginning at 11:00am on Saturday, January 2nd.
Phoenix Police report several roads will be closed along the parade route beginning Friday evening. The following is a list of related closures:
Friday, 7 p.m.
Central Avenue will be shut down from Bethany Home Road to Camelback Road so the bleachers can be set up. Missouri Avenue, however, will remain open.
Saturday, 6 a.m.
Bethany Home Road will be closed from Seventh Avenue to Seventh Street.
Seventh Street will be closed from Highland Avenue to Indian School Road. (Indian School itself will remain open to eastbound and westbound traffic.)
The entire route will be shut down, including Central Avenue between Bethany Home and Camelback; Camelback, from Central to 16th Street, and Seventh Street from Camelback to Indian School.
The parade steps off at 11 a.m. and usually runs a couple of hours from start to finish.
Phoenix police hope to have all streets open again by 2 p.m., with the exception of the sporadic closures for crews tearing down bleachers.
