PHOENIX (AP) -- Maricopa County authorities say they have arrested four people in three separate cases of suspected animal cruelty and neglect.

Sheriff's Office detectives say they received information of suspected animal abuse earlier this month and that prompted an investigation and the removal of the animals for medical treatment.

Sheriff's officials say 54-year-old Terrance Carrol and 41-year-old Debi Carrol -- both of Mesa -- have been arrested on four counts of animal cruelty. Also taken into custody Tuesday were Jeannetta Berry of Gila Bend and Jorge Gonzales of Mesa on animal cruelty charges.

The Sheriff's Office says all four suspects have been booked into the 4th Avenue Jail in downtown Phoenix.
