Scam artist sells stolen Disneyland tickets to familiesPosted: Updated:
PHONEIX -- A two month investigation has led Department of Public Safety detectives to a Phoenix-area man accused of selling fraudulent amusement park passes, including tickets to Disneyland, over Craig's List.
DPS said the man would advertise tickets and passes on Craig's List and would then meet the victims in person to sell groups of unvalidated passes stolen from area retailers for hundreds of dollars. Many of the victims and their families made the trip to southern California only to find out the passes were worthless.
Victims contacted DPS detectives who began investigating the con.
The man was booked into jail on charges of fraudulent schemes. State investigators think he's been operating for at least three months and may have worked with others.
DPS hasn't identified the man because they want more victims to identify him through a photo lineup.
