Man stabs wife at least 30 times during family fightPosted: Updated:
PEORIA – Disturbing details are emerging after a man admitted to stabbing his wife who later died at the hospital.
Court documents indicate the Peoria Police Department received a 911 call from an 11-year-old girl at about 11:45 p.m. on December 26 reporting a family fight.
When officers arrived at the scene, they say Julian Noriega, 42, told them he thought he had just killed his wife. Noriega was reportedly covered in blood and had a knife in his hand.
The victim was still breathing when police found her in an upstairs bedroom but she died just before 1 a.m. on December 27. Authorities say she suffered at least 30 stab wounds.
During a subsequent interview with detectives, Noriega said he confronted his wife about her possibly having an affair and a physical fight ensued. It quickly became violent and Noriega admits to stabbing her at least five times with his folding knife.
The suspect says he pushed her and she fell to the floor. He began to choke her and she bit his finger. That is when police say Noriega pulled out his knife and began stabbing his wife. He told detectives, “I just could not stop.”
Noriega went downstairs to talk to police when he heard a knock at the door and told them what he had done. He is being held on a $5 million cash bond.
