Your guide to last-minute shoppingPosted: Updated:
PHOENIX – There are plenty of last-minute shoppers out on Christmas Eve -- parking lots are full and a little chaotic. Time is running out if you still need to get a few more items.
All the Westcor malls close at 6 p.m. Christmas Eve and won’t be open Christmas Day. Many of the 24-hour stores will also be closed on Christmas Day, like Walmart and Target. Walmart closes at 8 p.m. on Christmas Eve and Target closes at 7 p.m.
There were a lot of people at Toys R Us on Christmas Eve, including one shopper who spent three hours picking out goodies for his children.
“It’s a one-stop shop for me,” said Eric Broomfield. “Once I leave here I'm done, that's it, so now I've got to get the kids to bed tonight and try to play Santa Clause, put the cookies out and all that good stuff. But it's worth it, it's fun and I'll do it the rest of my life if I'm fortunate enough to do it.”
Toys R Us closes at 9 p.m. on Christmas Eve and will not be open Christmas Day.
If you do get into a bind, Walgreens and CVS will be open late Christmas Eve and on Christmas Day.
And if you’re still trying to figure out what to do for Christmas dinner, you might want to hurry up and decide. Most grocery stores will not be open on Christmas Day. AJ’s closes at 7 p.m. on Christmas Eve, followed by Fry’s at 8 p.m., and Albertson’s and Safeway at 9 p.m.
Also keep in mind if you need any prescriptions, most pharmacies will be closed on Christmas Day.
