MESA – A baby in the back seat of a car escaped serious injury in an accident that killed her mother Thursday afternoon.
Police say 22-year-old Brianne Keogh was making a left turn at the intersection of Higley and McKellips roads in Mesa just after noon. Her vehicle was struck by a full-size GMC truck going south on Higley. She was pronounced dead at the scene. Her 1-year-old daughter was in a rear-facing child restraint seat in the back seat of the car and was not injured.
The driver of the truck was not hurt.
Police are investigating the cause of the accident, but say there were no signs of impairment at the scene.
