One dead, another seriously injured after head on collision at Phoenix intersectionPosted: Updated:
PHOENIX - A teen is dead and another woman is in serious condition after a three car accident early Wednesday near Cave Creed Road and Pinnacle Peak Road.
When officers responded to the scene witnesses said that the victim, Krista Brown, 17, was traveling north bound on Cave Creek Road from Pinnacle Peak Road when for unknown reasons her car accelerated and entered the southbound lanes of traffic an collided with another car driven by a 28 year-old female.
Brown was transported to the hospital where she was pronounced dead.
The 28 year-old female was extricated from her car and transported to the hospital in serious condition, but with not life-threatening injuries.
A witness at the scene told Phoenix police that Brown appeared to have suddenly slumped over the steering wheel just before the vehicle accelerated into traffic.
There was a nine-month-old child in the 28 year-old female's vehicle that was properly restrained and received no apparent injury.
A third vehicle was also involved, but only sustained minimal damage and the driver was not injured.
