Officer injured when drunk driver crashes into patrol carPosted: Updated:
MESA - Wednesday evening the Department of Public Safety responded to an injury collision on the U.S. 60 near Stapley Road.
According to Harold Sanders with DPS, a Mesa Police Department marked patrol vehicle was stopped in the on ramp area with emergency lights on when a 2007 Toyota Yarus smashed into the back of the Mesa police car.
The Mesa officer was inside the patrol car and sustained injuries. He was transported to the hospital for treatment.
The driver was not injured and taken into custody by Mesa police for driving under the influence.
