The holidays are traditionally the season for giving, but throughout the past semester students in the Tempe Union School District have taken the the time to give back.
Over the past few months athletes in the Tempe Union School District have taken the time to organize events benefiting a variety of organizations in the community.
From football games and volleball matches raising money and awareness for breast cancer to football players raising money for the Wounded Warrier Project.
A student at Marcos de Niza organized the October football game featuring pink football jerseys.
Volleyball players from Mountain Pointe and Desert Vista turned their game into a fundraiser for the Side Out Foundation.
Students, parents and fans from both schools came together for "Pink Tukee". '
Superintendent Adolph has seen the kids chanel their competitive spirit in positive action.
Superintendent Adolph said student athletes in the district already have big plans for the upcoming semester. They realize area food banks are going to need restocking so the students are busy planning how they can continue to give back.
