Sun shines on truckers stranded by snow in FlagstaffPosted: Updated:
FLAGSTAFF – Weather conditions are improving in the high country, but driving conditions are still rough, with much of the roads covered with ice. All roads are now open, and that has dozens of truckers excited to head back out after being stuck in Flagstaff overnight.
With interstates 40 and 17 closed Tuesday night, there weren't a lot of options for those have places to go and things to deliver in time to make it home for Christmas.
After Tuesday night’s rough ride many weren't so sure that would be possible, but Wednesday morning's sunshine offered a ray hope that Mother Nature might just cooperate.
While all roads in the high country are open, they are still slick and there are areas where chains or four-wheel drive is required. So check road conditions before heading out, and be prepared for a long, slow drive.
