Study: Arizona 5th happiest states in the country

PHOENIX -- Arizona is one of the happiest states in the country.

According to a study released today in the journal "Science," Arizona is the fifth happiest state in the U.S.

Louisiana came in first, followed by Hawaii, Florida and Tennessee.

The researchers said they looked both at surveys that ask people about their happiness and at objective quality-of-life issues. Comparing those side by side, the researchers said the was a close correlation between the two.

The study found that people were happier in states that have good schools, better air quality, low crime rates, cost of living and shorter commute times.

New York came in last on the list.
