Could your garbage man be working for the cops?

PHOENIX -- Your neighborhood garbage man may soon be working double duty as another set of eyeballs for the police.

Some Waste Management drivers will soon be trained by Phoenix police officers. They'll be on the lookout for suspicious activity.

The department says it’s not any different from a Neighborhood Watch.

"The bottom line is that is puts hundreds more eyes and ears out on the street to help us detect criminal activity and terrorist activity,” said Public Safety Manager Jack Harris, “and for us to respond to those scenes quickly and make the neighborhoods safer."

Harris says the drivers will not have any power to make arrests.
