ASU baseball team accused of rules violationsPosted: Updated:
TEMPE -- The Arizona State University baseball team has been accused of rules violations.
The NCAA says the team violated several rules and didn't control the baseball program.
The notice of allegations was sent to university officials on Nov. 19, one day before coach Pat Murphy abruptly resigned.
The notice lists nine violations such as employment of student athletes and relationships with outside contractors.
ASU is already on probation for major athletic violations four years ago.
A second major infraction could lead to sanctions affecting the entire athletic department.
The rule infraction accusation is in its preliminary stages and ASU has several months to respond.
There was no comment from university officials Thursday morning.
