One injured when truck crashes into Prescott buildingPosted: Updated:
PRESCOTT -- A Prescott Valley woman was seriously injured when a truck crashed through the front of an office building Monday morning.
It happened at approximately 9 a.m. at the office of The Caring Presence, 1024 Willow Creek Road, in Prescott.
Police say 23-year-old Lauren McCracken, of Kirkland, was pulling into a parking space when she apparently hit the accelerator instead of the brake pedal. Her 2007 Chevy 1/2 ton pickup jumped the curb and crashed through the front of the building.
At the time of the crash, 49-year-old Carrie Reidel, of Prescott Valley, was sitting at a desk in the office where the crash occurred. The truck hit Reidel's desk, which pushed her backward into another desk along the wall behind her.
Reidel was treated at the scene by the Central Yavapai Fire Department, Prescott Fire and Lifeline ambulance personnel. She was taken to Yavapai Regional Medical Center for treatment where she was listed in serious condition. She was expected to be flown to a trauma center in Phoenix as soon as weather permitted.
Police continue to investigate, but say impairment is not suspected in the accident.
