Suspect in home invasion crime wave in P.V. off the streetsPosted: Updated:
PARADISE VALLEY -- Police have arrested a suspect in the series of home invasion robberies that occurred in Paradise Valley over the last couple months.
Justin Lee Martin, 32, of Phoenix was arrested Sunday night, Paradise Valley police announced in a press conference Monday.
The home invasions, which began October 20, occurred in the area near Doubletree Ranch and Scottsdale roads. After the most recent home invasion on December 4, a police officer made note of a vehicle leaving the area. Police put that vehicle under surveillance, which led them to Martin.
"The actual arrest took place last evening in Paradise Valley after surveillance units stopped Martin, who had become the focus of our investigation," explained Paradise Valley Police Cmdr. Alan Laitsch. "Just moments before the arrest, Martin had been prowling the back yards of several homes in a neighborhood, committing thefts and trespass. Evidence has been recovered that links Martin to the home invasion cases. The type of evidence that has been recovered is a weapon, clothing and tools.”
Martin has been charged in connection with six home invasion robberies. Police believe Martin may have had an accomplice in at least one of the cases, and they continue to investigate.
