PHOENIX - Pay up or go to Tent City was the message from Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio this weekend to deadbeat parents throughout the county.

Yesterday about 50 teams from the sheriff's posse served dozens of arrest warrants on moms and dads who are not paying their child support.

Arpaio says that by not paying, these parents create conditions in which children's health and safety are put at risk and he will not stand for it.

Sheriff Joe says, “We're trying to do the best we can to send a message out, especially during the holiday season. They're arrested. They're going to jail. I'm sure they'll end up in the tents."

The weekend's round-up put 57 people behind bars, 31 of those arrested were “deadbeat” parents, according to MCSO. A total of 54 warrants were cleared.
