Border pot bust and border clean-upPosted: Updated:
Officers with the US Customs and Border Protection say they seized 60 pounds of marijuana on Thursday. Officers say they were screening travelers when they stopped a ford escape driven by a 20-year-old woman from Sierra Vista.
They searched the SUV and found the marijuana hidden in the cars bumpers, fenders, and rocker panels. The drugs have an estimated street value of just under $100,000.
Also near the border -- there was a big clean up this weekend.
The Arizona department of environmental quality picked up more than 150 bags of trash left by illegal border crossers on ranch land off of Arivaca Road.
About 50 volunteers organized by Hunters Who Care took part in the 2 day clean up.
