SUNSET POINT -- Two people are in the hospital after a boulder slammed into their car Monday morning as they drove on Interstate 17 near the Bumble Bee exit.

The boulder rolled off a mountainside, over a boulder fence and onto the hood of the car.

A man driving back to Flagstaff after Sunday night’s Cardinals game described what he witnessed.

"I saw it in my rear view mirror,” he said. “It was like, ‘Wow, that boulder almost took us both out.’ They're lucky to be alive. We all three had a little kumbaya session and said, 'Wow, we're all very lucky to be alive,’ but especially them.”

The couple inside were taken to the hospital with non life-threatening injuries.
