Lt. Jose Pena, SCC Animal Care & Control, says over 50 rabid animals, mostly skunks, have been confirmed in SCC in 2009.  He says a 60-day quarantine went into effect Dec. 3.  He says all dogs and cats are required to be vaccinated.  Any unvaccinated animal that bites a person will be quarantined at Animal Care & Control.  It will be destroyed if rabies is confirmed.
