MESA -- A teenager was air-lifted to the hospital after a car slammed into a pole at the intersection of University Drive and Sossaman Road in Mesa Monday morning.

It happened shortly after 7:30 a.m.

Four teens reportedly were in the car. Three suffered only minor injuries and refused treatment. A fourth, a 14-year-old girl, suffered a head injury and was air-lifted to the hospital. There was no immediate word on her condition.

Emergency officials say it appears none of the teens were wearing seat belts. However, a full investigation is under way.

It's not clear what caused the wreck.
