Arizona received nearly $5M to enforce Employer Sanctions laws, which prohibit employers from knowingly hiring illegal Immigrants.
Prosecutors from nine of our 15 counties say they haven't spent the money because there's hardly any complaints about employers violating the law.
That's not the case in Maricopa County. County attorney Andrew Thomas teamed up with Sheriff Joe Arpaio to crack down on illegal immigration. Maricopa has spent nearly all of it's $2.86M.
