Suspects wearing masks rob Amazing Jake's in Mesa

MESA -- Police are searching for two masked suspects who robbed Amazing Jake's in Mesa Sunday night.

According to the Mesa Police Department, two suspects wearing clear Halloween-type masks confronted the lone employee who was closing up the store at Baseline and Gilbert roads shortly after 10 p.m.

Sgt. Ed Wessing said one suspect pointed a semi-automatic handgun at the female employee. The suspects had her empty out the cash registers then forced her to open the safe.

The suspects left through through an employee door.

Wessing said the rear employee door was unlocked, but police don't know if the suspects entered through that door or if they hid out in the store.

The armed suspect is described as an Hispanic male in his late teens or early 20s, 5 feet 6 inches tall and 150 pounds. He was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and black pants.

The other suspect is an Hispanic male, 5 feet 9 inches tall and 150 pounds. He was wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans.
