Fees for parking tickets in Phoenix going up?Posted: Updated:
PHOENIX -- A new proposal before the Phoenix City Council would nearly double the fine for parking tickets.
Right now, parking at an expired meter will cost you $31. Under the new plan, that ticket will jump to $57.
In addition, the fine for illegally parking in handicapped spot will go from $250 to $460.
The city council says the increase will keep Phoenix in line with other local cities, as well as cities across the country.
Council members will look at the proposal in the next few weeks.
