Alcohol likely a factor in early morning wreck, 1 hurt

SCOTTSDALE -- One person was seriously hurt after an early morning wreck in Old Town Scottsdale.

It happened shortly 6:30 Sunday morning at the intersection of Scottsdale and Camelback Roads.

Police said a Chevy Cavalier and a Mercedes were heading southbound on Scottsdale Road when they collided.

The driver of the Chevy suffered life-threatening injuries and was rushed to Scottsdale Healthcare Osborn.

According to investigators, alcohol was likely a factor in the wreck. A half-empty bottle of whiskey was found inside the Mercedes.

There were four people in that car. None of them was hurt.

The investigation is ongoing.
