Car hits baby in stroller near Mesa schoolPosted: Updated:
MESA -- For the second time in just over a month, a car pulling out of a Valley school has struck a stroller with a baby sitting inside.
A month ago, a 6-month-old boy was run over and killed by a driver outside of a Phoenix school.
Fortunately, the child in this case wasn't seriously hurt.
After dropping their child off at Liberty Arts Academy in Mesa Monday morning, a parent hit a child in a stroller as they were leaving.
Mesa Fire Department was called out to the school located at Power and Guadalupe roads.
According to the Mesa Fire Department, the child was only slightly injured, suffering a head injury.
As a precaution, the 8-month-old was airlifted to Maricopa County Medical Center.
The child is expected to be OK.
At this point, the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office is still investigating. There's no word on whether the driver will be cited.
School officials would not comment.
