Potato fire burning near FlagstaffPosted: Updated:
FLAGSTAFF -- Fire crews are working a wildfire burning about 10 miles north of Flagstaff.
The Potato fire is burning in the White Horse Hills area about three miles east of Highway 180 and Forest Road 418.
Forest Road 418 has been closed to public use.
So far, about 100 acres have been charred with an estimated containment of 20 percent.
At least one structure has burned and a few others are threatened.
While no official evacuations have been ordered, some nearby campers have been asked to leave.
Investigators believe the Potato fire possibly originated on private property in the Potato Flat area around Potato Tank.
The fire may have originated from a camp fire that was left unattended or otherwise became out of control.
