Domestic-partner benefits remain in effect for 12 more monthsPosted: Updated:
PHOENIX -- Domestic-partner benefits may have been dropped from the Arizona state budget, but employees can still apply for them for 12 more months.
The benefit was supposed to be dropped when the state's insurance plan began almost two weeks ago. However, the Attorney General's Office says that eliminating the program during this fiscal year would conflict with employee expectations.
So to avoid any violation of contract laws, the benefits will continue to be available until October 2010.
