MESA - A boy in Mesa is in critical condition after being struck by a truck.

A spokesperson for the Mesa Fire Department said the 6-year-old boy was struck at 80th Street and Javelina on Monday evening.

Firefighters say the truck hit the boy after he rode his bike through a stop sign.

The truck driver stopped and police say impairment was not a factor.

The boy was reportedly unconscious and had a head injury when a rescue crew arrived.

The boy’s father was not in the area but arrived at the scene shortly after the crash.
