Cottonwood deacon arrested for alleged molestation of boy

COTTONWOOD - A Catholic deacon in Cottonwood faces sexual conduct and molestation charges.

Maxwell Rollin Pelton, 75, who was known as "Ray" was arrested on Thursday morning at his home in the 1000 block of N. Willard Street.

Cottonwood Police tell 3TV Pelton was arrested for several charges. He faces sexual conduct with a minor, luring a minor for sexual exploitation, child molestation, furnishing harmful materials to minors and indecent exposure.

Police say they believe Pelton molested a 10-year-old boy whom he knew.

A search warrant was served on Pelton's home. He is being held without bond at the Yavapai County Jail in Camp Verde.
