PHOENIX -- A homeowner says he was trying to stop a crime, but police mistook him for an intruder and opened fire.
Now, newly released 911 calls reveal what really happened.
An armed man broke into Tony Arambula's Phoenix home Sept. 17, 2008.
He got his family outside, held the intruder at gunpoint and called 911.
While talking with a dispatcher, officers arrived and because Arambula had a gun they starting shooting.
The Arambulas are suing for more than $5 million.
The officers involved in the shooting were cleared of any wrongdoing.
