Fire tears through Scottsdale apartment complex

UPDATE: The fire at the two-story multi-unit condo complex was determined by Scottsdale Fire investigators to be accidential. 

It originated in a kitchen area and spread to the attic space. 

The fire loss for contents and structural damage is estimated at $674,250. 
 

SCOTTSDALE -- Fire has damaged at least 16 units at a north Scottsdale apartment complex. The Red Cross is helping eight people who lost their residences.

More than 50 firefighters from Scottsdale, Phoenix and Tempe battled the fire near 94th Street and Via Linda.

The Scottsdale Fire Department says there were no injuries to residents or firefighters. Crews remain on the scene mopping up hot spots.

Red Cross volunteers are providing the families with the means to obtain food, clothing and other essentials.
