Officials investigate child locked up in school

PRESCOTT VALLEY, Ariz. -- Prescott Valley police and the Humboldt Unified School District are investigating allegations that a little girl was left unattended in a school nurse's office after administrative staff left for the weekend.

The incident happened last Friday at Coyote Springs Elementary School.

HUSD Public Relations Director Mariela Bean called the incident "unfortunate." Bean said the district is investigating all the facts.

Principal Susan Fahrni declined to comment Monday afternoon.

The girl's mother, Gina Anderson, said a janitor found her daughter Friday and called Anderson on her cell phone.

Anderson said her 7-year-old was "traumatized" by the incident. The second-grader has since been placed in another school.
