PEORIA - Five workers were arrested after another business raid by the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office. Sheriff's deputies raided Berardi Enterprises, a construction reclamation company in the 8400 block of N. 83rd Avenue in Peoria. The sheriff's office reportedly received a tip from an employee of the business last year who said the company was knowingly hiring illegal immigrants using fake identificiations. MCSO says that employee is no longer with the company. Five employees were arrested on suspicion of being illegal immigrants. They face identity theft charges. MCSO says the management team at Berardi was cooperative with deputies.
During the investigation deputies found out that one off the suspects was using the identity of a Border Patrol agent. This raid is Sheriff Joe Arpaio's 24th in his battle against illegal immigration.
