ASU preparing future alumni through charter schools

TEMPE -- Arizona State University is starting early with some of their future alumni.

The university has started several K-12 charter schools.

The first one opened last year in Mesa and the second one just opened in downtown Phoenix.

ASU plans on building two more. One will be near the Tempe campus and one near the west campus within in the next few years.

The university says the schools will help students be better prepared for college and will aid in their research.

A number of other universities nationwide have started their own charter schools, as well.
