Driver busted with $40K worth of meth in secret compartment

HOLBROOK - About $40,000 of methamphetamine was seized after a traffic stop led to the drug bust. An officer with the Department of Public Safety, along with a K9 officer conducted a traffic stop on a white 2002 Ford Explorer for allegedly speeding on eastbound Interstate 40 east of Holbrook.
The DPS officer reports there were signs and indicators of criminal activity in the vehicle and the driver allowed the officer to search the SUV. The canine alerted to the vehicle and the officer found two pounds of high-grade crystal meth in a hidden compartment. The street value was estimated to be about $40,000. A female passenger in the vehicle was questioned and released. Jesus Ivan Madueno-Perez, 28, was arrested and taken to the Navajo County Jail. He faces possession of dangerous drugs, possession of dangerous drugs for sale and transportation of dangerous drugs for sale.
