Arizona gets $9.5M for energy projectsPosted: Updated:
PHOENIX -- Arizona is getting $9.5 million in federal funding from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act to support energy efficiency and conservation activities.
The funding was announced Monday in Washington by U.S. Energy Secretary Steven Chu. More than $354 million is being split by 22 states.
Under the Department of Energy's Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant, Arizona plans to implement programs that lower energy use, reduce carbon pollution and create green jobs locally.
Arizona will use its funding to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and encourage development, promotion and application of advanced building codes and green buildings statewide.
