Ex stabs woman multiple times with screwdriver

PHOENIX - A man was taken into custody after allegedly stabbing his ex-girlfriend multiple times and leaving her for dead.

The incident happened on Thursday just after 5:30 p.m. at the victim's apartment. Police say 27-year-old Emina Redza turned her back during their conversation and the suspect stabbed her multiple times with a screwdriver with the intent to kill her. The suspect then reportedly fled the scene in the victim's car.

At about 7 p.m. the suspect was driving in the 3500 block of W. Dobbins Road when police conducted a traffic stop. As an officer approached the car, 39-year-old Dzevad Selimovic reportedly told the officer he had just stabbed his girlfriend. He was taken into custody without incident.

The victim died as a result of her injuries. Dzevad faces murder charges.
