Flagstaff approves detention basin for sleddingPosted: Updated:
FLAGSTAFF -- Next winter, sledders can use a highway interchange detention basin near the Flagstaff Mall.
Although the City Council is signing off on the sledding area, questions still exist on how much the city will charge for admission, what days it will be open and where sledders can legally park.
The Council approved a one-year pilot program for the area.
A handful of residents living near the detention basin said the establishment of a sledding hill in their neighborhood would bring unwanted parking, traffic and noise to the adjacent neighborhood.
The Council was urged to look for other sites that would be a better fit for the city.
