UA student sues Oro Valley PD over stun gunPosted: Updated:
TUCSON, Ariz. -- The Oro Valley Police Department is being sued by a University of Arizona student over claims of reckless assault and detention as he headed to a football game last fall.
The Aug. 11 suit that John Wisner filed in Pima County Superior Court states he was detained and shot with a Taser gun by Oro Valley police officer Bryan Wiggins.
Oro Valley police declined to comment on the suit.
Wisners attorney, James Marner, did not return calls seeking comment.
At the time of the Oct. 25 incident, Wiggins was off-duty from his Oro Valley job and working in uniform for the university.
Wisner is seeking an unspecified amount of compensation for allegedly suffering serious, permanent physical injuries as well as mental anguish.
