Light rail ridership not following trends

PHOENIX - The Valley isn't following the trends when it comes its light-rail riders.

A newly released survey by metro light-rail planners found only 27% of folks who ride the light right do so to and from work.

In many large cities commuters make up the dominant amount of rides.

The study revealed that sports fans, shoppers and people going to and from the airport or cultural events are the majority of the riders.

The survey also found more people take the light rail during the middle of the day than during either the traditional morning commute or evening one.
