Significant storm dumps rain throughout ArizonaPosted: Updated:
PHOENIX (AP) -- Rain is pouring throughout Arizona in what weather officials say could be the most significant monsoon storm so far this year.
National Weather Service meteorologist Mike Paddock says as much as an inch an hour could fall throughout the state all day Saturday and into the evening.
He says the storm is the result of regular monsoonal behavior and remnants of Hurricane Jimena.
The rain prompted weather officials to issue flash flood watches throughout the state, meaning flooding could occur in washes, creeks and other drainage areas.
Drivers are urged to avoid crossing flooded areas.
The rain is expected to taper off on Sunday.
