Accident derails light rail in Phoenix for hoursPosted: Updated:
PHOENIX - A traffic accident involving a SUV and a light rail train derailed the train lines for hours on Saturday.
The accident happened near 32nd Street and Washington.
Phoenix police reported minor injuries to four people.
Phoenix fire Capt. Scott McDonald says the accident is the worst involving a light-rail train since the system went online in December because of the number injured and damage involved.
The accident caused damage to power poles in the area.
Buses were used for this portion of the line until the train was back up and running.
The disruption lasted about eight hours, until power could be restored and service returned to normal.
