LOS ANGELES -- Jon Garland faced the team that traded him to the Los Angeles Dodgers just three days earlier, retiring his last 14 batters as the Dodgers beat the Arizona Diamondbacks 4-2 last night and split the four-game series.
Garland gave up two runs and five hits over seven innings, including a solo homer by Stephen Drew. He struck out six and walked one.
The right-hander, coming off back-to-back wins against Houston has won three consecutive starts after going 1-9 with a 4.50 ERA over his previous 16 outings.
Manny Ramirez homered to lead the National League West leaders the win.
The Arizona Diamondbacks start a weekend series tonight in Denver against the Colorado Rockies. Arizona rolls out Dan Haren at 13-8 against Colorado's Jason Hammel at 8-7.
