Molestation victims come forward and help arrest suspectPosted: Updated:
MESA - Two victims of sexual molestation come forward and help arrest alleged molester.
Police say two adult males told detectives on April of 2008 that they had been sexually molested by a family member as kids. They also said a third family member had also been molested.
The initial two victims said they had been molested between 1974 and 1992 by Ruben Myers.
In May of this year detectives located the third victim and conducted an interview. The victim said he too had been molested by the suspect as a child.
All three victims said they were sexually molested from the time they were 5 years old until they were 18 years old. They said they came forward with the allegations after they found out Myers was living in a home with young children.
Those kids were interviewed and detectives say they did not talk about inappropriate touching or behavior.
Detectives developed probable cause and arrested Myers on July 10. He faces 13 counts of sexual conduct with a minor, 8 counts of molestation of a child and 1 count of sexual abuse.
Further investigation revealed Myers volunteered for the Helaman House from 1996 until 1998, which is a residential treatment center for young boys between 12 and 17 years of age.
Mesa police say there may be more victims who have not come forward. If you have any information, call the Mesa Police Department at (480) 644-2211.
