PRESCOTT -- Yavapai County sheriff's deputies arrested a man who stabbed his father during an argument Tuesday afternoon.

The victim's wife reported that her son, Toby Thomas, 38, had attacked his 60-year-old father with a steak knife.

The victim's wife told deputies she heard Thomas arguing with his dad. When she went to investigate, she found her husband on his back holding Thomas against his chest to prevent a further knife attack.

As she called 911, Thomas left and went to the lower level of the home.

Deputies arrested Thomas without incident. He was charged with four counts of aggravated assault.

YCSO spokesman Dwight D'Evelyn said Thomas was upset regarding accusations by his father about hygiene concerns.

The victim was airlifted to a Phoenix hospital for treatment of several stab wounds to his back. His condition is unknown at this time.
