Fire rips through Phoenix recording studioPosted: Updated:
PHOENIX -- Investigators are trying to determine what sparked a late-night fire at a Phoenix recording studio.
Recording studio burns
Phoenix music studio goes up in flames - A recording studio at Interstate 17 and McDowell Road caught fire late Tuesday night.
Firefighters were called out to Francisco Studios near Interstate 17 and McDowell Road at about 11 p.m. Tuesday.
When crews arrived on the scene, they found lots of thick black smoke pouring from the building. The interior layout of the building with all of its practice space and recording rooms made things challenging for firefighters.
"They got in really quick," explained Capt. Hugh Chase of the Phoenix Fire Department. "The problem is, when you're in a maze of studios, you can imagine, they had to go through each one to try and figure out where exactly the fire was."
Firefighters managed to contain most of the damage to two or three of the recording booths.
While the cause of the fire is under investigation, crews believe it started while some equipment was being moved around.
No injuries were reported.
