3950 E. Campbell Avenue, Phoenix

The latest and greatest entry for LGO (the talented people who bring us Postino, La Grande Orange Market and Pizzeria and Chelsea's Kitchen) has a slight Italian accent and a wonderfully urban edge. Imagine a hip, low-key neighborhood restaurant in L.A. and you've pretty much got the picture: Mid-century modern setting, community table, trendy cocktails and light, simple food offered on small plates. If you're hungry for spaghetti and meatballs, go somewhere else. If, however, you can appreciate hand-made pappardelle with goat cheese, corn, tomatoes and asparagus; a Roman artichoke (stuffed with bread crumbs and served with Green Goddess dressing); crunchy house-made potato chips served with romesco; grilled ahi with white bean salad; or house-baked foccacia, blackened from the grill and served with a sweet, perfect bulb of roasted garlic, then settle in. This place is a noisy, people-watching blast. Be sure to save room for dessert, either the signature olive oil cake (served with thickened cream and house-made jam) or the chocolate custard topped with espresso meringue. MMMMM, way to to LGO! Dinner nightly. $-$$
