Named for the old business district along McDowell Road, this kosher-style deli is a Phoenix institution. At its peak in the 60s and 70s, Miracle Mile had three locations, each a mob scene at lunch time. Although we're now down to two sites (all this family-run operation can handle in terms of quality control), Miracle Mile is as good as it always was: same quality pastrami and corned beef from L.A., same bread from Karsh's Bakery, same inevitable standing in line to place your order. I favor the Straw sandwich (layered with pastrami, Swiss and sauerkraut), but there's lots of other good stuff, including the stuffed cabbage, based on an old Hungarian recipe.
