Maizie's Cafe & Bistro

4750 N. Central Avenue, Phoenix

Housed on the ground floor of the Landmark Tower, this tiny urban cafe has already garnered a strong following for its creative menu and casual but energetic vibe. Customers might drop by for a glass of wine from an eclectic list, a late-night snack, a weekend brunch (offered both Saturday and Sunday) or a simple lunch or dinner. For appetizers, the wingless Buffalo dip -- a creamy mix of blue cheese, cream cheese, spicy shredded chicken and red hot sauce, served with toasted pita and corn chips -- is a must. And if you love burgers, you won't want to miss Maizie's inside-outs, stuffed with ingredients such as blue cheese and bacon or feta and sun dried tomatoes. Pretty entree salads and interesting sandwiches (think grilled cheese with Brie, grilled apples and smoked bacon) are definitely worth exploring as well, as long as you save a little room for the chocolate indulgence or strawberry tall cake (cinnamon coffee cake mixed in a parfait glass with strawberries and vanilla ice cream). Pretty much everything about this place is just plain fun. Lunch and dinner daily; weekend brunch. $-$$
